Just west of Penruddock is a stretch where a large earthworks was removed after the Railway was closed. This is one of the major areas to be re-worked to reinstate the Railway.
The Railway has to cross two minor roads and the A66.
The A66 was built after the Railway closed and so the old Railway trackbed has been crossed by the road.
A brand new bridge/tunnel will be required to cross the A66 and the Railway would need to be inclined to meet the new bridge on the Western side.
This is the point where a new bridge/tunnel will cross the A66.
